Kosi Forest Lodge
Location
Tucked on the far north-eastern corner of KwaZulu Natal, close to the Mocambique border, lies Kosi Bay. Situated in the Kosi Bay Coastal Forest Reserve is the luxurious Kosi Forest Lodge.

Attractions
Local Tonga traditions are many and varied. People in the area are very friendly and proud of their traditions. Guests are encouraged to take part in these cultural excursions, from talks on the Tonga fishtraps (standing knee-deep in the turquoise Kosi Lake!) to iLala Palm-wine making demonstrations.
Facilities
Kosi Forest Lodge guests are accommodated in luxurious thatched units, well hidden in the sandforest. The unique open-air en-suite bathrooms have been noted by guests as one of the highlights of their visit. Mosquito netting lines each bedroom.

Some of the activities on offer are:- Canoeing - the Kosi Lake system. Canoe past the world-renowned Raffia Forest and through crystal-clear channels. Birding - Home to the Palm Nut Vulture and Pel's Fishing Owl, both the Raffia Palm Forest and Sihadla River banks can be explored by keen birders at their leisure. Snorkelling - at Black Rock Beach (a scenic drive from the lodge). Turtle Tracking - mid Nov to mid Jan with hatchling viewing from mid Feb to mid March. Walks - Self-guided and guided walks in the wilderness area of the Reserve. Fishing - Salt and fresh water bait and fly-fishing on the Kosi Lakes as well as the Maputaland coastline. Wine - Enjoy iLala Palm wine-making and tasting, or savour this Maputaland speciality in our chef's cuisine. Guests are accompanied by trained guides, in open-air vehicles, on all excursions.
