Attractions
The Notten's family purchased the property in 1965 and in 1986 Gilly & Bambi Notten opened their family home, Notten's Bush Camp. Because there are no fences to impede the movements of the animals, guests are rewarded with excellent sightings of most of the animals found in Kruger National Park, including lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo, wild dog, cheetah, giraffe and more than 350 species of birdlife, including the rare African Finfoot, the Lesser Blackwinged Plover and the Narina Trogon.
Facilities
The exclusive camp, which can't take more than ten guests at a maximum, has no electricity and is unique for its relaxed and informal atmosphere reminiscent of early days. Paraffin lamps and candles are used for lighting in the elegantly styled comfortable chalets - all en suite, with mosquito netting on windows. The camp is unabtrusive and blends well into the bush. An open lounge leads onto a wooden deck overlooking a vast plain and waterhole, where one can enjoy marvellous sightings of game coming down to drink and the abundant birdlife is spectacular.
The sparkling pool is a good place to cool off and really enjoy the solitude and tranquility of Africa at its best. Notten's offers first class lodge accommodation in a blend of style and rustic décor and offers excellent cuisine in the way of traditional bush breakfasts high tea/lunch and three course dinners. Notten's also offer the best professional rangers and trackers whose services are available around the clock. The reserve is situated within one of Southern Africa's oldest reserves, the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, and one of its main assets is the fact, that it lies in the middle of traditional migration routes of animals from the Kruger National Park.
Additional Information
