Location

Situated in Southern Maputaland, Kwa Zulu Natal, Zulu Nyala is a privately owned game reserve, located high on the southern Lebombo Mountains affording views across unspoiled game land to the highest vegetated sand dunes in the world at the eastern seaboard of Sodwana Bay.

Zulu Game Lodge offers guests an exclusive wildlife experience on the reserve. Conveniently located, in the heart of the LSDI guests have easy and quick access to many of the conservation, wildlife and cultural attractions in the region, including Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Reserve, the World Heritage Site - St Lucia, Sodwana Bay, Lake Jozini and the Tembe Elephant Park.

Facilities

The lodge offers 40 deluxe air-conditioned rooms, all en-suite with separate bath and shower. Provided in rooms are coffee/tea making facilities, wall safe, hair dryer and direct dial telephones. Rooms are serviced twice daily. Facilities include a Boma, dining room (seating up to 200 guests), private entertainment lounge, various bush venues and an "Amphitheatre"- a unique bush venue seating up to 220 guests. Bar - open 10h00 till late. Swimming pool and pool deck. Tennis court - equipment supplied, deposit required. Reception and craft centre: open 06h00 - 21h00 Conference/Function Room: 220-seated cinema style with breakaway rooms. Full range of standard conference equipment. Weather permitting breakfasts and lunches are served on the veranda, in the Boma and/or Dining room. Dinners are served "alfresco" in our Boma and/or dining room. Alternatively bushdinners may be arranged by prior request. (Surcharges to be charged for bushdinners). Breakfast: 07h00 to 09h00 Buffet style continental breakfast and full English breakfast is served. Lunch: 12h00 to 14h00 Buffet, salads/cold cuts and light traditional hot dishes. Dinner: 19h30 to 21h00 Buffet style; traditional and venison 'carvery' with a variety of dishes available. Special dietary requirements are catered for by prior request.

Additional Information

In addition to the abundant plains game (giraffe, zebra, blue-wildebeest, nyala, etc.) the reserve also has elephant, white rhino, buffalo, leopard, cheetah, hippo and a wealth bird life. Game drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles by FGASA qualified and experienced field guides. Afternoon game drives continue after 'sundowners' into the early evening. Game viewing by spotlight after dark offers the chance of seeing unusual nocturnal species. Rangers host individual groups of guests, ensuring that each guest's bush experience and special interest is attended to. Ranger's co-ordinate their guest's programme: conducting bush walks, elephant tracking trails and other activities. A guest's limited time is well utilised and special interest groups are catered for. Game Drives: Summer: +/- 06h00 - 08h30 +/- 16h30 - 18h30 Winter: +/- 06h30 - 09h00 +/- 16h00 - 18h00 Game activities may be arranged to suit guest's individual requirements. Walk and Tracking Trails:Trails can be adapted to suit the guest's needs, although Elephant tracking can be strongly recommended. Either by prior arrangement or arrangement with the guest's ranger. River Boat Cruises: A birders paradise. Morning and late afternoon cruises on the Mzinene River is offered to guests. This is a true mini "Okavango" with crocodile and a wealth of bird life. Clay Pigeon Shooting:Sport shooting under guidance. Outside activities: Various outside activities can be arranged by special request, such as scuba diving, snorkelling, deep sea fishing, tiger fishing, Tembe elephant park, St. Lucia, Hluhluwe game reserve etc. Children/Babysitting:May be arranged at the Lodge on request.
