DRAKENSBERG AREA, SOUTH AFRICA

The magnificent Drakensberg mountain range towers over the rest of KwaZulu-Natal at the highest altitude south of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. This spectacular area includes the Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, which has recently been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It features 200-million-year-old geological formations as well as a wealth of San rock art: over 35 000 individual paintings at 600 sites.

The breathtaking beauty of the Amphitheatre, Giant's Castle and Cathedral Peak attract many visitors to the area each year and there are various nature reserves in the region, including Himeville Nature Reserve, the Sehlabethebe National Park, the Golden Gate Highlands and the Sterkfontein dam. Drakensberg means "Dragon Mountain" in Afrikaans and the local Zulu people call it Ukhahlamba, which means "barrier of spears." It is a magnificently scenic region, rich in natural beauty, animal, bird and plant life and spans 150 kilometers.

Day 1:	Arrive at Durban International Airport and transfer to Cathedral Peak Hotel in the Drakensberg. Dinner included in package. The suites are set in secluded gardens. Each suite has been individually decorated to enhance its appeal and create a luxurious, intimate ambience. Accommodation at Cathedral Peak Hotel, dinner included.
Day 2:	After a hearty breakfast play golf at Cathedral Peak Hotel Golf Course. For the family, why not take part in one of the many activities on offer within the hotel. The Hotel's many recreational facilities include free daily guided hikes to bushman paintings, horse-rides, mountain bike and jogging route, tennis, squash, bowls, beach volleyball, table tennis, badminton, floodlit mini-adventure golf, 10m climbing tower, heated and cold swimming pool and fly fishing. Day 3:	Golf at Champagne sports and racquet resort. The championship, 18-hole golf course, set against the magnificent backdrop of Champagne and Cathkin Peaks offers the golfer not only a superb challenge of golf on a perfectly manicured layout but also a scenic experience that is reward enough. Day 4:	Free Day: Spend the day with your children Cathedral Peak Hotel is also a welcome family retreat with a host of children's facilities including pony rides, a children's park, jumping castle, heated paddling pool, trampoline, games room and separate children's dining room. Day 6:	Play Golf at Zimbali Golf Course amd Family outing to Gateway shopping centre Tom Weiskopf, designer and former British and South African Open Champion, located the course beyond the region's sensitive coastal forest. Utilising the natural features it is a course of two different moods as 11 of the holes are built on the rolling hillsides of this sugar cane country, and the other seven are set within indigenous coastal forest. High tees overlooking sweeping fairways, the ocean and several water hazards, are memorable features on the first nine holes. Day 7:	Transfer to KWABEKITHUNGA / STEWARTS FARM REST CAMP Enjoy a Zulu cultural village tour at Kwabhekithunga, which includes lectures on the way of life of the Zulu people, Zulu dancing, beer tasting and a traditional meal before booking into Stewarts Farm Rest Camp. The architecture of this lodge has been fashioned like a traditional Zulu beehive but with modern amenities and en-suite bathroom.
Day 8:	Depart Stewarts Farm Rest Camp and play golf at Empangeni golf club, a beautifully maintained inland track with a number of challenging holes, the course measures 6,543 yards from the back tees with a par of 72. The Family depart for Lawaaiwater crocodile and animal farm, where children will be introduced to a Nile crocodile breading programme (this farm also boasts hands on experience with donkeys, guinea pigs, rabbits, bush pigs, zebra, owls, ostrich, cane rats, turkey, African rock python, and so much more. Return to Stewarts Farm rest camp. Dinner included.
Day 9:	Transfer to Sodwana Bay Lodge. Sodwana Bay is renowned for its mighty marlin, magnificent reefs, marine life and distinct ecosystems of animal, bird and prolific plant life.
Day 10:	Spend the day with the family doing the activities Sodwana Bay has to offer!!! Quad biking, horse riding, microlighting and deep sea fishing. Accommodation Sodwana Lodge.
Day 11:	Transfer to St Lucia and book into Elephant Lake Hotel. Join an afternoon boatcruise on the Estuary of Lake St. Lucia where you will the opportunity to see crocodiles, hippo’s and an abudance of birdlife.
Day 12:	Transfer back to Durban International Airport
