Mvubu Game Lodge
Location
This 7000ha reserve is situated in Northern Kwa Zulu Natal, 450km from Johannesburg, 350km from Durban, 270km south of the Kruger National Park and 4km south of the Golela / Lavumisa Swaziland border post. The reserve is 50km from Mkuze Game Reserve and 130km from Hluhluwe Game Reserve.

Attractions
Forming part of the core area of the Bioreserve, is the oldest proclaimed Game Reserve in Africa (proclaimed on 13 June 1894) and the second eldest in the world. Today the Pongolapoort Bioreserve is managed to demonstrate the value of conservation in co-operation with the KwaZulu Natal conservation services, private enterprise and the local communities for sustainable rural development and community upliftment through eco-tourism providing the visitor with an interactive, enlightening participatory experience. Of particular interest among the plant species, an abundance of cycads occur in the Lebombo's. Fauna includes at least 25 indigenous fish species, 60 mammal species, over 300 bird species and close to 100 species of reptile and amphibia. Specially protected species include elephant, rhino, leopard, wild dog, martial eagle, bateleur eagle, lappetfaced vulture and cape vulture.
Facilities
Accommodating 22 guests in 11 x two bed en-suite chalets, this well secluded hillside lodge overlooks the Pongola River as it meanders towards the Pongolapoort Dam. Fully catered on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis with open plan demonstration cooking. Facilities include a comfortable lounge, swimming pool, private veranda and satellite TV. Guests are welcome to bring their mountain bikes. Specialising in group participation and eco-ventures with a full range of Eco-venture options being offered from this lodge. There is also a 6 bedded self-catering camp called Inyati Camp.
Additional Information
In order to fully experience and enjoy the rich natural and cultural diversity on offer, activities range from innovative adrenalin options such as rhino tracking and canoeing among hippo and crocodile, to the traditional night game drive and bird watching sunset cruise.
